Cox and Southern Install

A couple of weeks ago we handed over our fourth Cox CXO300 install on the back of a Southern XP776. Swapping out his Yamaha 250hp for the 300hp V8 Cox diesel outboard was a logical step for this customer, who was wanting the range to explore fishing grounds further afield. The Cox outboard is 25% more fuel-efficient than its petrol counterparts. With the average diesel price sitting around $1.63NZD, compared to $2.38NZD for petrol (Gaspy, 2021), it doesn’t take long to see the cost savings of 65% per nautical mile add up, especially after long days on the water.

The CXO300 lifespan is triple that of its petrol competitors, making it the perfect option for commercial operators. However, this Cox outboard is for recreational use around the Marlborough Sounds, Golden Bay and Abel Tasman.

Marc Cooper, Service Manager at Sports Marine, who completed the installation, said the client was ecstatic during the handover process and could not wait to spend all summer putting the CXO300 through its paces.

The XP776 can take all the creature comfits to make your time on the water that much more enjoyable.
